My favorite.

February 21, 2009

This was my favorite day because I was at this concert with my favorite person and (amazingly) got to hear my favorite singer.

The song starts in the middle, so you’ll just have to buy it to hear the real deal.

Freak. Frick. Frack.

June 3, 2008

Where the freak is it? (1)

XO, me

1) I refrained from using choice language here, as I don’t want weird creepies Google-finding my stuff. And also, I don’t really want to be known as the girl that writes bad words in her blog. This girl might accidentally swear when she prays, but there will be no cussing here (a).

Notes of My Notes:

a) I know–that must make me highly irreverent, but I pray in my car a lot and sometimes other people on the road are unsafe and those words just fly out of my mouth, I tell you.

Biscuits and breakfast.

New favorite: Fink.

Unfortunate name: yes (1).

Fortunate music: absolutely.

Good lyrics: mmm, hmm (2).

Good guitar: yep (3).

Good stuff: entirely.

First Album: great.

Second Album: my favorite of the two (4).

XO, me

1) When something rhymes with stink or mink, the image conjured up when the word is said is not that great.

2) He says bad words every once in awhile, so if that offends you, plug your ears or something.

3) Says the girl that has taken guitar lessons twice, and still can’t play. Such an expert.

4) It is so my favorite that it has been playing non-stop for a week.

I heart Rogue Wave

February 7, 2008

So this is my new favorite band. Going to see them Sunday. Very exciting.

Love these cute boys and their converse shoes.

And these P-town guys that play a piano flute and shake a jar of change. They put on a great show.

Off to make a cup of tea.

Super cool

January 28, 2008

So, I am sitting in my bed, under an electric blankie, hoodie tied over my head, trying to adjust my attitude about this snow day. You might be thinking, “Yay for you. A day off of work!” I am thinking, “My little neighbor lady/grandma/pinochle player/dessert bringer Rose went to pinochle today. So, if 73-year-old Rose can brave the elements, why can’t we (1)?” The root of this issue for me is that I really just don’t want to make up the day later on, during President’s weekend or this Wednesday when I was planning on working in my classroom (2).

Anyway, I stumbled across this today. It is super cool, I am pretty sure. You type in your favorite artist or song, and then a whole radio station comes up and plays music of similar taste. Way cool. Way free. Way awesome.

Happy day to you!

XO, me

(1) The elements are less than an inch of melty snow, and wet (not frozen) pavement. I know, I know. It is just different here.

(2) I start teaching again this Thursday!

Ms. Austen

January 25, 2008

This video (if I have not already made you watch it) is so great.  Austen purists might hate it, but I love it anyway.

She had nothing to do but to forgive herself and be happier than ever.   Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey

But when a young lady is to be a heroine, the perverseness of forty surrounding families cannot prevent her. Something must and will happen to throw a hero in her way.   Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey
Good night.

This song makes me happy (1).

XO, me

(1) This song makes me want to have a twirly poncho and dance around the living room.   When I dance around by myself, I am sure it is something like the little girl in this video.  Am I the only one that dances around when I am by myself?

Flight of the Conchords

January 6, 2008

Flight of the Conchords: pretty much New Zealand’s fourth most popular folk parody duo. I heart them and their funny stuff. I will let Jemaine and Bret do the talking, but you should also watch the live version of Business Time. I love it, although it is a little racy (1).

Oh and P.S. Back in New Zealand, they invented rap.

(1) That is what my grandma says about red underwear and when things are a little scandalous. This is also the same grandma that told me that I shouldn’t drink my pop with a little cocktail straw because it might make me gassy.

Goodnight, dear void.

January 3, 2008

“Sometimes I wonder about my life. I lead a small life. Well, not small, but valuable. And sometimes I wonder, do I do it because I like it, or because I haven’t been brave? So much of what I see reminds me of something I read in a book, when shouldn’t it be the other way around? I don’t really want an answer. I just want to send this cosmic question out into the void. So goodnight, dear void.”

Love it or hate it.

December 29, 2007

The ever-changing list of favorite tunes. Love it or hate it, here it is.

William Fitzsimmons: Funeral Dress, When You Were Young (1)

Seabear: Cat Piano

Alexi Murdoch: Love You More, Orange Sky

Jose Gonzalez: Heartbeats, Crosses

Cary Brothers: Ride (2)

Jay Nash: Falling Down

Greg Laswell: Sing, Theresa Says (3)

Joshua Radin: The whole We Were Here album—I could listen to this non-stop. Favorite song: Today.

Iron and Wine: Carousel

Matt Nathanson: Still. And, I do also like the song Come on Get Higher, which is allegedly about eating ice cream. For shizzle…can I pull off saying that? Probably not because I think the correct term is fo’ shizzle.

Landon Pigg: Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop (4)

My mix probably sounds a little Zach Braff-ian, but I swear I was not influenced by his top friends list on Myspace at all. We just happen to share similar music taste, amongst (I am sure) many other things. I do have a crush on him, if that isn’t apparent. But, I am confident that it could never work out between us because well, we all know Jesus is my homeboy. Fo’ shizzle.

XO, me

(1) I am confused as to why Fitzsimmons is not better known. I think that his music is amazing.

(2) Did you know that it is only one guy that is Cary Brothers? I feel misled because of this name and for so long thinking it was two brothers, like THE Cary Brothers. I finally found out that Brothers is Cary’s last name. That seems like trivia-worthy information.

(3) He’s rumored to have dated Mandy Moore.

(4) I know this probably means that I have sold out by liking a song that is part of, quite possibly, the cutest commercial I have ever seen. This song could make a girl sell her sewing machine for the chance to be the woman that is so sweetly handed that ugly diamond pendant during the car ride. Swoon.
